Join Denver-based outdoors writer Jamie Siebrase for a three-hour "field" workshop at the Denver Audubon Kingery Nature Center near Chatfield State Park. In addition to reading and analyzing short nature writing samples, students will learn about creative nonfiction techniques such as point of view and concrete detail. Be ready to head outside to observe, draw, and write about the wild landscape surrounding Kingery Nature Center. During the workshop, participants will gain access to the Rocky Mountain Land Library's Children’s Collection at the Kassler Center (located at the base of Waterton Canyon), where they'll find additional inspiration and practice their craft using writing prompts. After a low-ley nature walk (approximately 2 miles) students will return to the nature center where they started to share their work, if they'd like.
